Utilizing existing natural gas infrastructure will be essential in achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions in our operations by 2050. A five-year pilot, recently approved by the Virginia State Corporation Commission encourages the development of renewable natural gas (RNG) production facilities within our service territory.
The RNG Interconnect pilot program also authorizes the company to integrate RNG into its natural gas distribution system. That means we will now be able to produce and deliver RNG into VNG’s pipeline system and support the procurement of both RNG and Next Generation Natural Gas.
