Natural Gas: Foundational to a Net Zero Future

A recent landmark study analyzing Virginia Natural Gas (VNG) revealed use of natural gas and the company’s infrastructure are foundational to reaching a net-zero, clean energy future with greatest consumer affordability.

The ICF analysis provides illustrative pathways for VNG to reach net zero direct greenhouse gas emissions, including methane emissions, while using its existing safe and reliable infrastructure. The study also analyzed four different potential pathways for reducing customer natural gas-related emissions. 

The pathways identified demonstrate ways that, with policy and regulatory support, Nicor Gas can meet the company’s goal to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from its operations by 2050 while also providing benefits to its customers and communities.
