Virginia Natural Gas takes the plunge, once again, to “Go for the Cold” in support of Polar Plunge Virginia

Virginia Natural Gas is no stranger to the cold. For the last 26 years, we’ve pledged to “Go for the Cold” by taking the icy dip into the Atlantic Ocean to raise funds for our local Polar Plunge event and Special Olympics Virginia.

This year, VNG’s Polar Plunge team had over 40 plungers, made up of VNG employees, family members and friends. Altogether, team members raised over $50,000 in donations. VNG also provided hundreds of volunteer hours to help set up for the fundraiser, assist Special Olympics staff with event details the day of the Plunge and clean up after the event.

In addition to plunging and donations, Virginia Natural Gas raised additional funds through breakfast fundraisers, two chili cook-offs, a bake sale, shirt sales and an ice bucket challenge.

In the last 26 years, Virginia Natural Gas has raised over $500,000 to benefit Special Olympics and support training, competitions, leadership opportunities and health services for the Polar Plunge initiative.
