Longleaf Pine Restoration
As part of our commitment to supporting initiatives that protect and preserve the environment, Virginia Natural Gas is proud to support The Nature Conservancy with their ongoing efforts to restore the ecosystem that once flourished along southeastern Virginia and is regarded as the “pine that built Tidewater.”
In 2016, Virginia Natural Gas planted six longleaf pines outside our Virginia Beach headquarters, and in 2017 worked with The Nature Conservancy, Virginia Beach Department of Parks & Recreation and Virginia Department of Forestry to plant more than 150 of the species at Mount Trashmore and Lake Lawson/Lake Smith city parks.
We will continue working with our partners to restore the longleaf pine to its former prominence in southeastern Virginia. Our hope is that the longleaf pine will grow and thrive here.
